A multistage search of algebraic CELP codebooks
نویسندگان
چکیده
A joint amplitude and position search procedure is proposed for searching algebraic multipulse codebooks. It is implemented within the reference G.723.1 codec as an example. This joint search method is shown to reduce down to one third the number of comparisons per subframe relative to the focused search over an extensive speech database. An e cient implementation of the joint search is derived which incorporates backward ltering of the residual target vector and precomputation of autocorrelation elements, bringing about a reduction in complexity of one third in comparison to the focused search. The joint search performs about one thirtieth as many comparisons as the full position search.

A New Multistage Search of Algebraic CELP Codebooks Based on Trellis Coding
This paper proposes a new multistage technique of algebraic codebook in CELP coders called Trellis Search inspired from the Trellis Coded Quantization (TCQ). This search technique is implemented into the fixed codebook of the standard G.729 for objective and subjective performance evaluation on a large corpus of a testing speech database. Simulations results show that the proposed search scheme...
متن کاملConstrained Voicing-Based Codebook in Low-Rate Wideband CELP Coding
In this work we propose an efficient technique to quantize the immitance spectral frequency (ISF) in an algebraic code-excited linear prediction (ACELP) wideband codec. The Constrained Voicing-Based Vector Quantization (C-VBVQ) presented in this paper improves substantially the performance of the unconstrained-VBVQ approach for both clean and noisy speech. Both techniques reduce the codebook se...
متن کاملVoicing-based codebook in low-rate wideband CELP coding
In this paper we propose a new technique to quantize the spectral information in an Algebraic Code-Excited Linear Prediction (ACELP) wideband codec. The Voicing-Based Vector Quantization (VBVQ) presented in this paper, optimizes the search of the optimum vector while reducing the codebook entries by almost one third. In the VBVQ training phase, three codebooks are individually designed for voic...
متن کاملLow-Delay 16 kb/s Wideband Speech Coder with Fast Search Methods
In this paper, a low delay 16 kb/s wideband speech coder with a buffering delay of 1.25 ms is introduced. This coder is basically inspired from the G.728 LD-CELP standard for narrowband speech signals. Our main goal is to reduce the implementation complexity of our wideband G728 like coder, which is mainly due to the search of the optimal excitation (gain-shape) in codebook. For this reason a...
متن کاملA multi-band CELP wideband speech coder
A novel low-delay wideband speech coder, called Multiband CELP (MB-CELP), overcomes the major obstacles usually associated with two traditional CELP approaches to wideband speech coding namely fullband CELP and split-band CELP. The new MB-CELP coder employs a multi-band bank of o -line ltered excitation codebooks, fullband linear prediction synthesis, and minimization of the error between origi...
